Victory Hall Cultural Center presents

METAPHORS, MUSES, AND MYSTERIES:
Exploring Spiritual Art
March 12, 2004 - April 3, 2004

Opening Reception
Saturday, March 20, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
FREE with live music and refreshments

Victory Hall's large exhibit space is once again the place for showing of major works by artists from the metropolitan area and greater New Jersey. METAPHORS, MUSES, AND MYSTERIES continues the development of Victory Hall as an important venue for new art in the Jersey City area, and is part of our city’s artists’ efforts to keep the downtown scene growing.

This exhibit of over 20 artists working in a variety of mediums, focuses on the spiritual, the creative imagination and the inspirational forces behind the creative process. These individuals' explorations result in a variety of personal symbols, claim various sources of inspiration and range from intellectual uses of archetype to intuitive uses of gesture and color. The exhibition encompasses a broad spectrum of work created with sophistication and sensitivity, in each instance chronicling the artist's journey into the world of the unconscious and the conscious. The works are created as an active search for meaning, and are also an attempt to create a visual, physical representation of each artist's discoveries and personal revelations. METAPHORS, MUSES, AND MYSTERIES will include works by Barbara Meise, Steven Singer, William George Stamos, Jill Scipione, David Ambrose, Ed Fausty, Giovanna Cecchetti, and Maggie Ens. Curated by Maggie Ens, France Garrido, Nancy Wells, Ed Fausty, and James Pustorino.

Victory Hall Cultural Center operates as a collective of arts professionals in music, dance, visual arts, performance and film, interacting to produce exciting arts events in the Jersey City Waterfront area. Victory Hall is located at 186 Grand St. at Marin Blvd. For information call (201) 209-0510. For an update and full schedule, check our website, www.victoryhall.org.
