I've been living downtown near JC University in a warehouse/loft space for three years now. My space is residentially zoned, while other spaces in my building are commercial. My street is right on the cusp of a residential and commercial area, and has both warehouses and homes on it. I find the area to be quite unaesthetically pleasing due to some dilapitation of the homes and the local residents' habit of sweeping trash onto the street, but I've also noticed that some stores located down West Side Avenue have been cleaning up and remodelling.
Most of my friends are located far far away in Williamsburg Brooklyn and so I've not spent enough time exploring JC. I'm now hoping to meet more of my local peers and invite them to take a look at this area of JC if they've not already.
