Cecile,

I live in a high-rise called "The Gotham" at the corner of Warren & Montgomery. It is 3 blocks from Exchage Place & an easy walk. It's a nice building with doorman & amenities but a little pricey - around $1800-2200 for a one bedroom. They do have studios as well (although i don't know the prices).

I don't know your price range but I would try to find a place without going through a broker - that's such a racket! I had never experieced that kind of rip off until I moved to the NorthEast. My husband & I did pay about 100 for a service that provided info about vacancies, much like a broker would. That's what helped us find our apartment & it's all on the web. If you want more info, e-mail me & I will try to find the website for you!

Another suggestion would be that you come here one day & visit a bunch of apartments throughout this area & get prices. You may want to consider Hoboken, NJ as well. It has a PATH stop & is really nice. Good Luck!
