I stayed there for New Years 2002/2003. It's very convenient to get to (just to the right of the Holland Tunnel entrance, next to the Burger King).

Very reasonable rates. Pastries, cereal, coffee, orange juice and fruit for breakfast. The mall is right next to the Holland Tunnel Motor Lodge, and on the other side of the mall is the PATH station. Only about a 3-4 minute walk.

Only problem is it is noisy, but I guess you'd get that from any downtown hotel. You hear the trucks and people in other rooms, but none of the ambulances and fire engines that you would downtown. If you're tired, a sound sleeper or room faces away from the Holland Tunnel you should be okay.
