Do phone the Mayor's Action Bureau at 201-547-4900. You might also wish to call your local Police precinct. The main (non-emergency) number for the Police Department is 201-547-5477. : can anyone tell me about Jersey City Municipal Ordinance 287-8H: "Refuse/recyclables put out too early/improper storage"? Our neighbors placed garbage on our property at some point while we were away last a week ago and we've recieved a summons to either appear at court or pay $102 dollars. Can I responsible for the garbage someone else puts outside our house? If so, can I just move it to the front of someone else's property and it will be thier problem then? (I know this isn't the best route, but I'm sick of picking up other people's garbage! I do my best to keep my housefront clean and tidy and am really pi$$ed off that I am somehow responsible for crap other people leave on the sidewalk.) Can I go to court and tell them to give this ticket to whoever the next door neighbor is? I haven't ever actually seen them putting the stuff outside our house, but repeatedly, garbage appears just outside thier garage which borders our property and 9 times out of 10 the garbage is just a foot or so into our property line. If it's the person renting the garage leaving the stuff on the sidewalk, how can get this summons switched over to them? I'm a bit nervous to confront the neighbors since I'm new in town and female. As far as I can tell, the house next door is inhabited by several intimidating men. : What can I do about this ongoing course of action. I don't think I should be responsible for paying a $102 fine for crap someone else leaves on the sidewalk. At the same time, I don't want to loose an entire day's work by going to court. : Sincerely, : Annoyed Home Owner
