: HAGUE’S VISION TO KINDLE GOLDEN NEIGHBORHOOD REBIRTH Mayor Hauge envisioned that (guote)the Medical Center, built to provide first-rate medical care to residents of Jersey City "without regard to the ability to pay," was a major part of Hague’s sensitivity to the community. (Unquote) 800 new market rate apartments in my opinion is not in line with the mayor's concept of "access to all". Jersey City has a median income of 44,000 with the majority of the populace living below that median; well below the poverty level. A majority of the patients who were treated and died there prior to this development will never be able to afford to live there now. Construction has continued in this city for the wealthy with scant regard to the plight of the local populace. This development is no different. With more than half of the homeless population of 1,600 people residing in Jersey City, you would think that current administrations would work harder to take care of the less fortunate and obtain concessions to house the poor as well as the working poor.
