The Provident Bank Foundation donated $10,000 to the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, Inc. in May at a check presentation in front of The Provident offices at 239 Washington Street. The $10, 000 donation provides a good start toward raising the $5 million needed for library capital improvement projects. From Left: Paul M. Pantozzi, Chairman, CEO & President, The Provident Bank; Sandra Bolden Cunningham, Chairwoman, Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, Inc.; Michael Revesz, Senior VP the Provident Bank; Library Director .Priscilla Gardner; Foundation Recording Secretary Joan Eccleston; Foundation Corresponding Secretary Domenic Santana; Foundation Board Member Ervin L Haynes; Foundation Vice Chairman James Morley, Vice President, The Provident Bank; and Foundation Treasurer Morris Winograd

Donation is Largest the Library Foundation has Received!

In an effort to raise money for the Jersey City Public Library, a non-profit library foundation was formed two years ago and has been actively seeking contributions from local businesses since.

“We’re going to be asking the public to give to us as an investment in the invaluable work the library does,” said Robert Larkins, Foundation Monitor.

Priscilla Gardner, library director and foundation executive director, said the goal of the foundation is to raise over $5 million to help the library buy books and computers, upgrade computer and security systems, improve accessibility of library facilities to people with disabilities and accomplish other important capital projects. Money raised will supplement city and state funding the library already receives.

Anyone who wants to make a tax-deductible contribution may write a check to the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation Inc., and send it to the foundation at 472 Jersey Ave., Jersey City NJ 07302.
