I agree with the person who said all of Jersey City is safe, just as all of any city is safe if you have common sense. The person who "would not go any further into Jersey City than downtown" and feels that "Journal Square is not diverse enough" clearly means he/she doesn't think there are enough white people there, which is a pretty limited attitude to have. I have lived in Journal Square and now own a home in the Heights, and have felt as comfortable and safe in both places as anyone can in a city. The quaint brownstones downtown may give some people a better sense of gentrified security, but I wouldn't take his/her word about it being the only safe place or the only neighborhood that is friendly and close-knit.

: : I am planning to move into Jersey city.I work in NYC and need to look for an apartment.I have found many sites with information about apartments etc. but none gave a good idea about the neighborhoods.

: : Are there any other resources(websites) that can give information about safer neighborhoods? If anyone has any information about dangerous neighborhoods which are unsafe for residing please share it with me.I really appreciate the help!

: I belive all of Jersey is safe and we have a wonderfull police pressence most of the time. depending on wether you want to be a diversity in a neighbourhood or the minority basically plays out games in your head in the sense of securtiy! Yes if you say wich are the right neighbourhoods to live in in terms of convinince for some one like you working in the city then you should try exploring the areas of JC heights, JC Journal sqaure vicinity or close to the Path stations in the Newport Pavonia Area or the grove st station. we are very lucky in JC to be amongst the most effective and efficiant public transport areas in the whole nation and hence basically pretty much where ever you live in JC it is convinienent to worek in the city.
