How do I get a zone parking permit?

By Anthony Olszewski
COPYRIGHT 2005

Go to the Parking Authority at 394 Central Avenue between the hours of 8:30 a.m and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Payment is only by check or money order. No cash is accepted!

Bring a copy of your driver's license and the vehicle registration (new residents may provide a copy of their lease or PSE&G utility bill) and (for non-resident) written authorization from local merchant or employer. The fee is $5.00 per year for residents ($1.00 for seniors) and $250 per year for non-residents. There is a special non-resident contractor rate of $5.00 per day, $125.00 for six months.

No permit will be issued until ALL summonses pending with the Jersey City Violations Bureau are settled!

To get a Resident permit, both the driver's license and the registration need to have the Jersey City address. Zone parking permits are only issued to residents of Jersey City or to non-residents employed in Jersey City. Permits are not issued to commuters!

The Parking Authority phone number is 201-653-6969. You can phone and request that a application be mailed to you.

The permit application is on the Web. You can print it out and mail it to the Parking Authority along with the required documents and the fee.

Residents can obtain permits for visitors. For information, phone the Parking Authority at 201-653-6969.
