: : : : : : My aunt Joan Monstery looking for childhood friends Joan Eckelson & Shirley Saunders.

: : : : :
: : : : : I am Joan's daughter, please e-mail me with more info.

: : : : Thanks for replying to my e-mail! Joan Monstery (now Kuss) lost touch with school friends Joan and Shirley and would love to be able to contact (either or both of) them again. I told her I'd see if I could find any info on them for her. Aunt Joan was born in Jersey City in 1935 and has lived in Maywood (where her oldest son was mayor a year or so ago), since her marriage in 1964, has 3 children and 2 grandchildren (but no computer!). Any info would be appreciated. It would be neat if I could tell her I "found" her missing friend for her. Thanks.

: : : I BELIEVE I AM YOUR AUNT JOAN'S FRIEND. LET ME KNOW WHERE SHE WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL AND WHERE SHE LIVED & WHAT WE LOVED TO DO WHEN WE WERE TEENS. I HOPE TO HERE FROM YOU SOON. WHAT A CHRISTMAS PRESENT THIS WOULD BE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU, JOAN

: : Boy, the pressure! Aunt Joan is my mom's sister (one of 6 girls). I know the family moved alot but always lived in Jersey City (before the "girls" got married and started moving out of town). But I think they lived on St. Paul's Ave., Zabriskie St., Hopkins Av. (I think Aunt Joan was born on Griffith St.). She would have gone to Dickinson. I know she roller skated with a friend (I remember seeing a picture, and I think it was her friend Joan in the picture with her). After high school, she worked for the phone company, even lived with my family on New York Ave. for awhile when I was a child. I'd love to be able to tell her I "found" her missing friend - she told me she'd love to re-connect. If you'd like, you can call me. (I live in Beachwood, N.J. - will give you my number.) Are you still in N.J.? Do you have any info on Shirley? Looking forward to hearing more!

: DEAR DIANE,
: YES, IT'S ME. JOAN & I WERE FRIENDS WHERE WE LIVED ON SUMMIT AVE. WE WERE IN SCHOOL ,WORKED TOGETHER AT THE TELEPHONE CO. & WENT TO THE SKATING RINK AS OFTEN AS WE COULD. ASK HER IF SHE REMEMBERS "THE EXCEL RESTAURANT" IN JOURNAL SQUARE? MY HOME# IS 201)497-8145 I HOPE TO HEAR FROM HER REAL SOON. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS IN LOCATING ME. WHO IS YOUR MOM? LOIS, RUTH, HELEN, AUDREY, OR SHIRLEY? DID I REMEMBER THEM? IT'S BEEN SO LONG. THANKS AGAIN, SINCERELY, JOAN

Dear Joan,
I'm so excited! - One of my cousins (one of Ruth's daughters) and I work on our family genealogy, and we get very excited uncovering information on relatives from the past, but this is the first time I've connected "living" people, and I can't wait to call Aunt Joan and tell her she can now re-connect with her old friend! I know she will be thrilled. (My husband and I just got back from a play and it's too late to call her now, but I'll call first thing tomorrow morning). If your area code is 201, you must not be too far from Aunt Joan and hopefully you two will be able to get together very soon. Aunt Joan's daughter Laura lives in N.C., and Aunt Joan is going to go there for Christmas, but I don't think she's left yet. (She travels by train).
My mother is Lois. You have a good memory - you remembered all the sisters! - but Helen died many years ago, and Shirley died just 2 years ago, so only Ruth, Lois, Audrey and Joan are left. You and Aunt Joan will have alot of catching up to do!
I'm quite sure she remembers the Excel restaurant, as do I (I moved out of J.C. in 1971, the year after I got married). I'm
so glad your daughter found my message - I thought it was only a shot in the dark, but it worked! If you need to get in touch with me, my # is 732-244-8040. I'll try getting through to Aunt Joan (she doesn't have an answering machine either!), will call her at Laura's if necessary! - just to tell her I located you, and give her your number. If things get too difficult tracking her down, I'll give you her address and phone number.
I hope you and Aunt Joan will have a good time reminiscing and sharing more good times together. Have a wonderful holiday, and thanks for getting in touch! My e-mail is disie51@aol.com - you can always call or e-mail me if you need to.
Best wishes,
Diane (Reilly) Hayes
