I don't know anything about "the loafers from the junction", but I lived in Jersey City from 1946 until 1955. I lived at 426 Palisades Avenue first, then 30 Hopkins Avenue, and finally 88 Van Waggonen. Does anybody from that era remember these neighborhoods? How are they today? I used to play in a park near 426 Palisades Avenue; it was called "Henry Hudson Park", I believe, and had a statue of Hudson at the entrance. Is it still there? There was also a place on Palisades Avenue called "Valhalla Hall" where a lot of people held wedding receptions. Is it still there? Would love to hear from anybody. Thanks.
