: : Jackson Ave was named after my Grandmothers' great gtreat granfather John Jackson. I never read a thing about the Jackson Family. Does anyone know where i can find more information about Jersey Citys' first family. Jersey City was their farm in the early 1700s

: Today's Martin Luther King Drive was originally called Jackson Avenue. In the 1800s, the Jackson Brothers' farm bordered Jackson Avenue.

: Do you live in the area? If you do, you should visit the Library's NJ Room at 472 Jersey Avenue. They've collected a lot of information on the Jackson brothers.

: Do you have any documents/photos of the Jackson family? If so, I'd like to post them on the Web. I'm sure that the Library would like copies, too.
I have a lot of family history..Jacksons were originally from Wisconsin, hencer there is a Wisconsin Jackson in the family. While they were farming they were also in N.Y. as goldbeaters. I have a whole slew of information and would love sharing info with anyone. I also have a connection to Abraham Clark signer of The Declaration of Independence through marriage
