The Ogden Avenue / Palisade Avenue Section of the Heights offers breathtaking views of the New York City Skyline and the length Hudson River that runs from upper Manhattan all the way down to the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Housing is mostly one- and two-family structures and a number of multi-family walkups (many of which have units available as condos). The neighborhood is extremely quiet. Shopping and services are only a few blocks away at Central Avenue. Hoboken -- and access to New York City by PATH subway or ferry is only a fifteen minute walk. You can enjoy a small town atmosphere on your home block while still having the entire spectrum of Manhattan's social, recreational, and cultural resources waiting for you.

Christ Hospital, Palisades Avenue, is a premier health care facility with an emergency room, and every sort of acute, and long-term care facilities. Christ Hospital also offers many types of services to preserve health and prevent illness.

The hospital itself and the many nearby doctors' offices and diagnostic services provide many employment opportunities. The charming neighborhood homes allow for the exciting prospect of a "commute" of just a few blocks!

Summit Avenue, Two Blocks North of Pershing Field
Pershing Field Park – south of Manhattan Avenue, between Central and Summit Avenues– is the heart of the Heights. Pershing Field offers Little League, a outdoor running track, basktball courts, tennis courts, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and ice skating. The youngsters haven't been forgotten! You'll find swings, sliding ponds, and other amusements for small children. Also, for the enjoyment of all, carnivals and circuses are held generally twice a year.

Summit Avenue, One Block North of Sherman Place.

The Jersey City Heights is home to a number of distinctive Victorian structures. Quite a few grace Sherman Place and Summit Avenue just north and south of Sherman Place. Jersey City's oldest house (1740), is on Palisades Avenue.

A number of religious institutions serve the Heights. There are four Roman Catholic parishes – St. Paul of the Cross, St. John, St. Anne, and St. Nicholas – churches of many other Christian denominations, a Synagogue, plus Islamic, and Hindu centers.


Congregation Mount Sinai

Five public and 4 parochial (Catholic) grammar schools educate the community's children. Schools are within easy walking distance from every home for all except the very youngest.
