Hudson County Fact:
In the 1971 election, the Democrats garnered a one seat majority in the State Assembly. Despite this setback, Tom Kean, the outgoing majority leader, still managed to arrange a deal with Dave Friedland (then minority leader) for Kean to become the Speaker of the new Assembly.
