Chiappone and Manzo top Doria by nearly 500 votes

By 2 p.m. yesterday, all eight missing voter tally sheets from Tuesday's primary were on the desk of Hilda Rosario, the Hudson County clerk's supervisor of elections.

The sheets contained the information everyone wanted to know: The final results of Tuesday's primary, one that had 12-term state Assemblyman and Bayonne Mayor Joseph V. Doria's career in Trenton hanging in the balance.

According to tally sheets Rosario read to a group of report- ers, attorneys and others who had converged on her office, former Hudson County Freeholder Louis Manzo was unofficially ahead of Doria by 448 votes in the 31st District.
