Your maturity in your response shows thru and I have to commend you for being mature and not just slamming and slinging mud.

Glenn was a good man but he was surrounded by people who cared little to nothing about him and less about Jersey City. These people, whom I refer to as the "brain trust" did their very best to create strife in the city (IMO).

I agree with putting the power into the hands of residents but in order to do that, any candidate must foster a sense of "inclusiveness". Calling Harvey Smith an Uncle Tom does not do that. That may well be your or Ms. Flood's opinion of him but that should be kept as a private thought and not aired because all it does is to work against her. I have my own unfavourable opinion of Mr. Smith but he is, in fact, the mayor and deserves some modicum of respect if nothing else for the position that he holds.

Saving lost children isn't for the city to do. It's for the parents of the lost children. We as a nation need to stop trying to keep people from hurting themselves...if they are hell-bent on doing it, they're gonna do it no matter what we do.

On crime, under Cunningham, while Ward F got lots of needed attention, the rest of us were pillaged by the criminals that were displaced from Ward F. I live not very far from MLK and Forest and I can attest to the rise in drug activity, shootings, criminal activity that went up where I live while it declined a few blocks south of me. This was not the holistic approach that Jersey City needed nor needs now. I had a big increase in all the things that you say decreased under Cunningham.

As far as her not wanting to air her fresh ideas, that's what we need to have happen. If the candidates had no choice but to discuss issues and how to resolve them, this city would be in a much better place. I want to hear the ideas from Ms. Flood and all the candidates, not just in this election but in all future ones as well.

: Well, I agree. Glenn laid the blueprint on how this city should be run. Mrs. Flood is her own woman with her own way of doing things. Mrs Flood has alot of the same views as far as building the city up. Putting the power into the hands of the residents and Saving the children who are lost. The crime is another issue. Mrs. Flood is 64 so she understands that seniors and everyone else for that fact needs to be able to walk the streets without worring about someone mugging or hurting them. When Glenn was alive there were fewer violent crimes and fewer people hanging out on the streets. When he passed it went right back to the way it was. Innocent people getting killed with stray bullets and so many young people getting shot and killed. This is no way to live. She lives in Ward F on one of the worst streets in that area. Forrest st off of MLK. I commend her for that. She has lived there for years. And I dont see her trying to move. So she can really connect with the people who really don't have a voice. I respect that. She does have alot of fresh Ideas but I don't think she wants to let the cat out of the bag yet. These are her Ideas. I saw the list. I just ask that you consider the facts. Thanx for your civil opinion. I wasn't offended not one bit. Peace.

:
: : I'm glad that we can be civil and disagree.

: : You're right on several points:
: : 1-This city IS growing at a fast pace and fresh ideas are badly needed! I cannot say that I have heard any fresh ideas from Ms. Flood. I've seen her on 2 debates so far and she's failed to impress me by offering any fresh alternatives. So far, her biggest claim is that she's carrying on Cunningham's legacy. That's probably correct however, that's not a fresh idea.

: : 2-All the candidates, including Ms. Flood have issues that needs to be given serious thought. As far as a candidate being gay...well, that does not affect office however that candidate's association with someone else is a serious red flag (IMO).

: : 3-She might have the city's best interest at heart where the other candidates don't but she's failed to show me that. She's shown me that if she wins, she will continue what Cunningham was doing i.e. dividing the city along racial lines and giving control of Jersey City to the "brain trust". I personally don't think that we can afford to let them back in power.

: : I do encourage you to vote which ever way you choose as I would encourage every American to vote the way that they chose. I don't agree that Ms. Flood has the fresh ideas to stop what is happening in Jersey City. I see her continueing the war with Menendez (whom I do not like) and that is her biggest liability in my opinion.

: : Let's do keep this discussion civil and I await your response.

: : : I beg to differ. I think that the video truck represents some fresh new Ideas. This city is growing at a fast pace and this is the kind of futuristic thinking we need to keep moving ahead. All the other candidates are either a drunk, gay, an uncle tom, a crook it's just sickning. And none of it really matters. I have NEVER heard her name in any kind of scandle. I believe she truly has the city's best intrests at heart. These other guys don't and they have proved it. She definitely has my vote and nobody can change that FACT.
