We're talking the same language here. Even though this is just for an interim term, it's still a good rallying cry to all those who are disgusted with politics here. There is just now a post on this board about a candidate doing a live performance of beating his wife. I just cannot imaging the depths of hell that these people will burn in for even thinking something up like that let alone posting it.

It's one thing to go after a candidate but when you start posting as if you are condoning spousal abuse, it becomes quite another thing. I'm really shocked that Anthony allowed that post.

I would suggest that we drop the HCDO, JCDO and RDHC and begin a citywide movement against machinism. It starts with us...letters to the editor, coming up with real solutions, making appearances at any public meetings and speaking up. It may start with you and I but I believe that it will gain ground and by spring be a full blown campaign.

: Fortunately this election is for the Interim Term, not a full four years. So there is time between now and May to put together a coalition of people, new-comers and honest "old hands" to put up a slate for the Spring. Maybe a new party, a new vision, a new voice is what we really need. Now its the motivation and the coalition that's necessary to make it happen. Hey...back in 93 no one knew who Bret was. But with a few new ideas and some solid PR he emerged from a field of 19 candidates to became Mayor and then a political power on the state level. It can happen again. It just takes vision.

: : You're right. Where we live has become a national joke and it's simply because people care more about winning than integrity. If you can't teach an old dog a new trick, it is time to get a new dog.

: : On who do we look to now, it's obvious. We look to some of the newer residents of Jersey City, especially those that didn't grow up here or are entrenched in the current political scene. We can't depend on the "old timers" to help us out of this mess until they see that we're serious about creating change. I am willing to bet that once positive change starts occuring, there will be many that jump onto the bandwagon.

: : We have some "minor candidates" running for mayor and frankly, they have no hope of winning but if those of us who are sickened by the current ways were to vote for these minor candidates and start looking for someone that will step up to the plate for us and then run a serious campaign, we can do it!

: : What Jersey City needs is new blood that will say no to the McCanns and the Menendez and all others who want to pay our way into office. We don't need them! We do need our integrity intact if we're really going to do this the right way.

: : Vote for the devil that you don't know this time instead of the devils that you do know. You really don't have much to lose.

: : : Its a bit shameful that Gerry never did admit guilt to any of the 18 counts that put him behind bars. He denied his guilt right to the end of his trial, through his sentencing, through his incarceration, and now that he's out..its the same old Gerry. I guess you can't teach an old dog new tricks...like honesty, fair play, and most of all..integrity.

: : : And the greater the role McCann has in Manzo's Assembly Office and now his campaign, the less respect I have for Lou Manzo. But then.... Healy has McCann's old Chief of Staff Buddy Demellier working for him. And no one can tell me that Demellier isn't cut from the same cloth as McCann.

: : : So where do we look for leadership in this town? Harvey has failed us. Lipsky.... well he's just Lipsky. And Willie...lacks leadership qualities. What do we have to do to find new blood in JC?
