Inside County Lines

"You can't make this stuff up!"

Urban Times News
10/29/04 - 11/4/04

Earl "the Hat" Morgan is so busy protecting the interests of Acting Mayor L. Harvey Smith that he has forgotten to cover the news. For example, The Hat covers the meetings for the Jersey City Parking Authority and the Jersey City Employment Training Program. Two weeks ago, Acting Mayor L. Harvey Smith fired African American attorney, Elnardo Webster, and replaced him with another lawyer, making sure his replacement was not African American. Not one to make his Uncle Harvey look bad, Earl the Hat has not written a word about this. It makes sense since the Hat wrote an article to set Webster up the week before, making it seem as if Webster's contract costs were unjustified. The Hat and his Uncle have officially started to tag-team African Americans that the Hat dislikes. As Uncle Harvey says in his campaign literature, even Ray Charles can see this scam.

After Uncle Harvey led the charge as City Council President against everything that our late Mayor the Honorable Glenn D. Cunningham proposed, Smith is now complaining that the City Council is against him. Of course they're against him! Since he conned them into letting him continue as Acting Mayor, he has played them like suc_kers! He has taken every opportunity to make it seem as if he is the only reason anything is getting done in Jersey City government and the council members (especially those running) are fed up with him, just like the rest of us! If he didn't need to keep up appearances until Election Day he would be shouting them down like citizens in a Council meeting, rather than simply ignoring everything they say and making moves with his band of cronies. As Malcolm X said, "The chickens have come home to roost," and when he loses on November 2nd, they are going to pluck Harvey good! Cheaters never prosper Uncle Harvey, and it won't be long until all your underhanded tricks will come back on you full circle.

We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw the Acting Mayor in a TV commercial. Not because he could afford it. With so many city workers and citizens being intimidated into supporting him and all his developer buddies donating cash to hide their illegal contributions, of course he has the money! What was disturbing was seeing Betty "Take-theMoney-And Run" Outlaw smiling and grinning with him. How can she sleep at night? I guess she can always use her new bankbook as a pillow.

Acting Mayor L. Harvey Smith has reached a new low even for him. Now he has instructed the police department to give summons to the Willie Flood TV truck. So far it has gotten four tickets, and three times they had nothing to do with incorrect parking. The last time the officer admitted he didn't want to give her a ticket, but he had orders. I guess Uncle Harvey won't stop his dirty tactics until he has been put out of office. Don't worry Harvey; in just one more week you can start looking over your shoulders, just like you have our officers, as they do your dirty work.

Don "Law and Order" Brown took his personal escort, Ed "The Cheat" Cheatum to New York City to view the Holland Tunnel. Guess what they're after? Keep an eye on Liberty State Park!

Lou Manzo is spending so much time trying to hide Gerry McCann that he is forcing Bill O'Dea and Melissa Holloway more and more to the front of his campaign. The problem is he can't stop Gerry from talking, and Gerry continues to tell anybody who will listen that he will be in charge of the city during the Manzo administration. Sure, Gerry is the guy you want around when you have to leak naked pictures of your opponent to the press and NewsChannel 4 TV, but people don't want to trust this ex-con in office again. And how come nobody is saying anything about Lou's staff members discretely hitting on teenage boys who try to make a few bucks putting up signs or handing out flyers. If Lou and Gerry can put Jerramiah Healy's business out on the street, Lou and his staff's "funny business" should be fair game too, but I guess the Hudson County Democrats can only do so much since Gerry has dirt on them as well. Gerry claims that he is presently handling absentee ballots for the Manzo campaign. Look for a major post election investigation into whether or not all the absentee bal lots from this campaign are legit.

Acting Mayor Harvey Smith is sure getting coc_ky. His yes men must really have him convinced he is going to win. First he couldn't stop putting black paint on Willie Flood signs. Now, even though his boy Roger "Catfish" Jones did "the deal" to keep things neutral between the Smith and Manzo camps, Uncle Harvey has decided he is going to start painting Manzo signs anyway and the big Jimmy King sign on the state highway too. Smith must feel more comfortable with that than letting people make a decision for themselves. Smith probably figured it was just easier to paint them black. That paint is the only black that he wants doing well in this election. It's hard to tell that Uncle Harvey is losinc_ his mind when you see him on TV, but in person he acts so badly you can see him twitching clear as day. Sometimes he acts so rudely you just want to slap him like his mama should have. At a public meeting in a church last Monday, he actually tried to disrespect and dismiss Willie Flood. Smith even let one of his lap dog assistants join the shouting match. They were Mutt and Jeff barking noise, and Mrs. Flood stood up and tamed them both, getting the women in the audience on her side. When Harvey saw the crowd supporting her, he walked off like a spoiled brat. We all know he really wanted to leave because Willie wasn't afraid of him and you can only bully people who are scared. Acting Mayor Baby Huey better get ready to pack his blocks.

According to the campaign finance records, the largest checks to the Smith for Mayor Campaign are coming from none other than Roger "Catfish" Jones. That must be a mighty good PR company he owns to keep the donations going. Or perhaps the question is whether or not Jones is collecting two paychecks: one as Acting Mayor Chief of Staff and another for running the Uncle Harvey campaign. I wonder if that would be a conflict of interest like what forced the need for Mr. Buonocore to leave office. Or is it a kickback situation where you pay me and I contribute to you. Or could this just be a case of "double-dipping"? You know, getting paid twice for doing the same thing. Like Arsenio Hall used to say, "Things that make you go hmmm." Mr. Jones is always calling for an investigation into something. Maybe the Acting Mayor should call for an investigation into Jones. He can make this investigation part of his official duties, like harassing Willie Flood supporters and painting signs black.

Getting back to Lou Manzo, who is he really supporting? Before the race, he told the African American community that he would definitely support an African American replacement for the late Glenn D. Cunningham's state senate seat. Now he is endorsing Bayonne Mayor Joe Doria, but he's been seen putting up Anthony Chiappone for Senate signs next to his Mayor signs. Looks like Manzo is setting up the, double-cross on Joe Doria already. You can make book that Manzo will do anything to win the Mayor's job. Speaking of making book, Manzo headquarters on Kennedy Boulevard is officially a halfway house for retired numbers runners. Every person in the club on Forrest St and Martin Luther King Drive has a record for bookmaking. Hope they know the odds of Manzo actually doing what he has promised them are 500 to none.

Arnold "The Roach" Williams who has been acting Mayor Harvey Smith Goon for taking down signs of Willie Flood and spraying signs of Flood has rewarded by acting Mayor Harvey Smith with a job of Cultural Affairs.

Mayoral Candidate Steve Lipski has sent a negative peice of literature with Mayor Candidate Lou Manzo as head of a crime family. Look out Steve.
