: The two candidates that are reportedly "ahead" (in the same polls that predicted the mayoral defeat of Glenn Cunningham) are revealing themselves to be the least worthy of political confidence. Yet we are consistently bombarded with propaganda that denies the truths we see, remember and experience each day. Do these frontrunners really think voters will ignore their history? : The real reflection of the Acting candidate will not be revealed until November 2nd.. He has so effectively bullied so many factions into saying that they support him that the only indecision in their vote is what excuse to use for not being at the expected Acting party. : When the real Mayor of Jersey City was alive, this candidate exhausted every possibility in thwarting his efforts. When the Mayor passed, he tried to play like he was a friend to the administration. He vengefully wreaked whatever havoc he could in the staffing at City Hall during the darkest times of the city's loss. He shouts down citizens who oppose him at Council meetings. He grandstands rather than trying to understand. He saves the most necessary administrative measures for political posturing, resulting in no cure for the city's declining fiscal health. He fakes cooperation and is angered when asked to be accountable. And too often he is more than disrespectful. He removed the real Mayor's plaque from a beloved Reverend's park and when caught, put it back with two of his own. He tried to distract attention from the dedication of the Glenn D. Cunningham Library with a proclamation for Kool and the Gang, in front of dignitaries from all over the country? While his newly installed lieutenant presides as Police Chief, no denouncement of the obviously illegal activities against the Flood campaign have been disavowed or condemned. : This candidate has made a campaign of attacking the only woman in the race. Flood signs have been torn down and painted black, tires have been slashed and cars keyed under the cloak of darkness. Shopkeepers have been "visited" and convinced not to support her. Flood supporters are harassed, and individuals have even been arrested, as police comply unwillingly with their directives. The Willie Flood headquarters, a central community meeting place and headquarters for the Reform Democrats has been vandalized, an interesting coincidence during these heated times. And in public this candidate's actions support this atmosphere of disrespect. He has lost his temper in more than one instance with Flood, angered by her refusal to stoop to 'his level. He ahs planted his troops in meetings where they hollered, "Women can't run a city." During his last tirade in a church, this Acting candidate was even more put off when, despite the crudeness of his assistant also trying to shout her down, Mrs. Flood rallied the support of all the women in the audience against them. The pettiness of towing his opponent's car is not beneath a candidate whose lack of pride allows him to crawl back to those who reject him and whose fragile ego necessitates him taking credit for things he never did. : The most disturbing quality of this second "frontrunner" is his penchant for political treachery. He frequently changes his positions when new political partners can be found. His goal is political power so like a chameleon he assumes the characteristics that will help him bend in best with the current environment. For allies he may seem a devoted supporter, but he will quickly make deals for himself that do not consider the implication or benefit on that partner. This candidate is highly capable of providing the sound bites that drive media attention, but his concentration on his core constituency has provided little credibility among mainstream voters. Many residents remember this candidate has defected from every political organization supporting a candidate in this election. As a result, he is not a candidate that anyone has openly declared they trust, though he was reportedly able to mend faces with the candidate he helped throw out of the race. : Another difficulty with this candidate is his associations. Working with a convicted former mayor and suspiciously criminal acquaintances in his political clubhouses, this cnadiate must also contend with his associates counting their respective eggs aloud before they are hatched. It is difficult to believe this team will provide the security voters seek in the difficult times ahead. Also, his support for the non-Jersey City resident currently holding the State Senate seat is unnerving, particularly given that: (1) that current Senate seat candidate has a proven track record of ignoring Jersey City community concerns and (2) that current seat holder has a pending lawsuit filed against him by the N.A.A.C.P. for voting rights violations. This candidate was even willing to look the other way while his aforementioned assistant allegedly leaked embarrassing photos of another opponent to the media.
