You are interpreting what is and isn't fundamentally evil. Other religions don't share in your view. More importantly, other men don't share in your view. I think killing a fully grown man or woman is much worse than killing a few cells after conception. I don't mean a third trimester organism, but a few cells moments after conception. There's no feet or arms or brain just rapidly dividing cells copying and recopying. There is that line, "Thou shalt not murder." Pretty straightforward, if you ask me. Moreover, the tradition of the Church explicitly condemns abortion. And that was the whole point: if you wanna be a Catholic, and if you wanna fully participate in the life of the Church, you can't run around advocating killing unborn children. And if you're a politician, you can't vote for that stuff. These are the rules. Kenny had to make a choice: What's more important, the Church or the Democratic Party? He chose the latter.

As for my own views on the issue (I am not really a "person of faith," btw)... Yes I do regard abortion as evil, in that it violates the most fundamental of human rights. Of course, murdering grown men is evil for the same reason.

First of all you can't "run around" and perform abortions. Abortions require surgery. Second, answer the question: is killing a few thousand cells an hour after conception the same thing as killing a man on the street? That's the question I need for you to answer.
