Traffic control in Jersey City is lousy. It always has been. Just try getting from the JCMC to City Hall. Its less that two miles and will take you 25 minutes because of the traffic lights. Nothing is synchronized, nothing is working to imporve the flow of traffic. Its all a mess and getting worse.

At least now and then the County works to synch up the lights on Kennedy Blvd, but that's not enough either. There should be a dedicated crew (city and county) that does nothing but identify traffic choke points and synchronizing lights. Then maybe there would be some relief.

As for a Stop and Shop...it won't cause any more traffic than any other commercial development on the same site. What we need is bonding for construction of a municipal parking garage in the Heights; elimination of parking on one side of Central Ave....so there can be a turning lane added (which would be used as a fire lane during emergencies); synchronized traffic signals; and a little patience. None of this is unreasonable. Its just a mnatter of getting the idiots in City Hall focused on the problem. But they're too busy trying to secure their own political futures rather than doing the business of the people.

: And after the traffic jams on Summit Avenue cause a great number of tragedies and catastrophes, what will the solution be? The first step is banning parking on Summit Avenue in order to add a fire lane. Parking's rough now? That's just too bad! You're going to have to sacrifice so that a foreign company can make more money.

: And will eliminating parking for residents be enough? As the traffic grows worse and worse, the next step will be to call for the condemnation of homes on Summit Avenue to widen the road -- for the greater glory of Stop and Shop!

: :
: : I must've missed that speech!

: : As it is now, there's traffic on Summit Avenue from 6AM to 10PM. With a big box store, get ready for a 14th Street viaduct jam for morning, noon, and night!

: : Fire trucks won't be able to get out of the fire houses on Summit Avenue. Better put hoses and water tanks on all the garbage carts of the guys with the brooms sweeping the streets.

: : : Look at you Uber, you sound like a bleeding heart Liberal! For shame!

: : :
: : : : 'Round-the-clock traffic jams on Summit Avenue -- a massive increase in potholes and litter -- the constant thumpthump and diesel fumes of trucks going through narrow streets -- constant accidents as big rigs slam into parked cars and jump the sidewalk when making turns -- more of what we need?

: : : : : The Heights NEEDS the new Stop & Shop, if we don't get it, we'll have NO Supermarket here, as the current one is closing.

: : : : : Not everyone in the Heights drives, the only people opposing it now, DON'T EVEN LIVE HERE!

: : : : : Please listen to the VOTERS! Not that nut, from Nutley!
