Jersey City Guide

Hi everyone, I have been pursuing the city in regards to the horrible shape the abandoned lots on the corner of Bergen and Fairview are in. I was contacted by Eleanor O'Malley, who works in the housing redevelopment office (I think) and she notified me that the city would forclose on the property on March 27th. They would then give the owners of the property 90 days to respond to the forclosure, which would put us into the end of june, before the city would actually own the property. Unfortunately, the city has been quite lax in dealing with the obvious drug-dealing and squatting that we all bear witness to every single day. I had warned city officials that you could smell smoke on occasion, and that if they did not keep the properties properly boarded, it was only inevitable that they too would burn down, much like the beautiful victorian that used to exist next to these properties I am referring to. On Saturday, april 10th, I saw firefighters on the roof of one of these structures, putting out a fire. I am pretty frustrated with this situation that has gone on for over six years and I feel that I am only one small voice in a rather large community of neighbors who really care about the quality of living in this neighborhood. I will present my concerns at the next meeting, but it would be really great if individuals wrote letters to the mayor expressing their concern about these buildings. How do you all feel about this?
