Hi Kate and welcome to the neighborhood. You'll find that there are many ex-Brooklynites in our neighborhood. You'll also find many great neighbors on your street and the surrounding streets. Just so you know, we have an annual historic walking tour through our neighborhood every May. I don't know if you were on the tour that we had a few months ago but it was really great. You can visit the website for it at www.lincolnparktour.com and check out the photos. The co-ordinator of the tours also lives on Harrison (between the Boulevard and Bergen). My name is David Casson and I am the Vice President of WB/LPNC and I live on Bentley between the Boulevard and Bergen Avenue. I have e-mailed Charlene Burke (the President of WB/LPNC) to find out the status of a September meeting and am waiting for a response from her now. We took the summer off from meetings just to give Charlene and myself a bit of a break. As far as the solid waste facility that is going in on Truck Route 1&9 near Sip Avenue, many of us went to the state hearings and testified against this facility however, word came back from the State's Department of Community Affairs that they could not see a reason to NOT put it in Jersey City next to this residential neighborhood. As far as the waste tunnel from Brooklyn that is going in near the Bayonne border, I don't know the status of that yet but thanks for the information on the Brooklyn NAG. : I just moved to the neighborhood, Harrison near Lincoln Park, and I'm glad to see there is a neighborhood association. Is there a meeting scheduled for anytime soon? I'd like to meet some neighbors, learn more about issues in our area, get updates on the alarming garbage facility I've read about here, etc. I moved from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, where we have a lot of experience with power plants and garbage-transfer facilities trying to move in. It might be a good idea to brainstorm with Brooklyn's NAG: Neighbors Against Garbage.
