Hello everyone, even though Monticello Avenue is just outside of our easternmost boundary, I am encouraging you to please come to this meeting. Kindly see the information at the bottom of this e-mail for more details. Both Charlene and I sit on the Board of Directors for Monticello Community Development Corporation (MCDC) and have been actively involved with MCDC in taking back Monticello Avenue and transforming it into a neighborhood shopping district with an Arts Overlay with a backdrop of historic preservation of Monticello Avenue. We have already received $60,000.00 in "Smart Growth" grant money for the purposes of assisting in the planning for Monticello Avenue and are awaiting "Main Street" designation status from the NJ Department of Community Affairs. What happens on Monticello Avenue absolutely affects our neighborhood. With it's current look of inactive commercial space and blight, we get a crime spill over in our neighborhood. The redevelopment of Monticello Avenue will only enhance our neighborhood. Kindly do attend this meeting, ask questions, get involved in taking back Monticello Avenue for the enhancement of our community! Also MCDC is hosting a Halloween Party Fundraiser at Bill & Ruth's Bar at 189 Monticello Avenue (between Belmont and Jewett). Tickets are available for $15.00 per person through Charlene Burke. You can contact her to purchase tickets. Costumes are encouraged...masks will be available at the door if you prefer not wearing a full costume. Thanks, David Casson MONTICELLO AVENUE COMMUNITY MEETING HOSTED BY MCDC Monticello Community Development Corporation TUESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2004 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
