Just to keep everyone up to date...Monticello Avenue received designation from the NJ Department of Community Affairs' Main Street Programme.

This programme uses a 4-point approach to re-invigourate downtown commercial areas in cities across the nation. The NJ Main Street Programme is part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Main Street programme and you can learn more about it at www.mainstreet.org.

The 4-point approach to re-vitalising commercial neighbourhoods is organisation, design, economic restructuring and promotion. Both Charlene and I sit on the Board of Directors for Main Street Monticello and we are very interested in hearing what YOU want as retail on Monticello Avenue. Please post what you would like to see and what stores or businesses you would patronise on a regular basis because that is what we're going to go after.

If you are interested in possibly opening up a business on Monticello Avenue, let us know that as well (you can do it here or e-mail me if you don't want to make your idea public).
